Ahmad ibn Talib Hameed
Ahmad ibn Talib Hameed (أحمد بن طالب بن حميد), also known as Abu al-Zubayr Ahmad ibn Talib ibn Abd al-Hameed Hameed ibn al-Muzaffar Khan, is a Saudi Qur’an reciter, Islamic scholar, preacher, imam, and khatib. He was born in Riyadh in 1401 AH (1981 CE). He studied at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Sharia, and later obtained master's and doctoral degrees in comparative jurisprudence from the Higher Institute of Judiciary. Hameed studied Qur’anic recitation with a number of recognized scholars and received ijāzāt in Qur’anic recitation, including readings transmitted through Hafs and Shuʿbah from ʿAsim. He also studied Islamic sciences with scholars in the holy cities and elsewhere. In 1434 AH (2013 CE), he was appointed as an imam of the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina after first leading Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers there during Ramadan. He became known for his Qur’anic recitation in the Hijazi style and has numerous recorded Qur’an recitations available through Islamic audio archives.
