Privacy Policy

Inshadi is a library of Islamic audio. You can browse and listen without an account, and without telling us who you are.

What we collect

If you create an account we store your email address, your password as an irreversible hash (we never see the password itself), and any display name or handle you choose. If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and name from Google — never your Google password.

Once you have an account we store what you ask us to keep: your favourites, playlists, follows, comments, and any audio you submit as a creator.

We record page views and plays so we can see which recordings people find useful. These records are not tied to your name or email.

Cookies

One cookie, to keep you signed in. There is no advertising or tracking cookie on this site, and we do not use third-party analytics.

The Android app

The app is the same site in a native shell, so everything above applies to it too. Two things are specific to it.

If you allow notifications, Google issues your phone a delivery token. We store that token against your account and use it only to send the notifications you would see in the app anyway: follows, comments, and decisions on what you contributed. Turning notifications off in the app's Settings deletes it, and so does uninstalling the app.

Nothing else about your device is collected. The app carries no advertising and no analytics library.

Who else can see it

The site, its database and the audio files are hosted by established cloud infrastructure providers, and account emails are sent through a specialist delivery service. Notifications to the Android app are delivered by Google's messaging service, which necessarily sees the notification text and which device it is going to. They process data only on our behalf, in order to run the site. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. If you need to know exactly which companies these are — for a data request, or before creating an account — ask us and we will tell you.

What is public

Your display name, handle, comments, public playlists, and any audio published under your name are visible to everyone. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Your choices

You can change or delete your account details at any time from your profile. Deleting your account removes your profile, comments, playlists and favourites. Audio already published to the library may remain, credited to its author.

If you cannot sign in, you can still ask us to delete the account — see the account deletion page at https://inshadi.com/en/delete-account.
